Bellerose Man Arrested for Endangering Welfare of Child

A Bellerose man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to lure a teenage girl into his vehicle.

On March 18 at 7:30 p.m., Robert Chapman allegedly approached a 15-year-old girl in the parking lot of 1596 Union Turnpike in North New Hyde Park and offered her money to come to his vehicle. The victim refused and Chapman drove away in a tan colored 2006 Jeep Liberty. After a thorough investigation, the defendant was arrested without incident.

Police charged Chapman, 63, with Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He was scheduled to be arraigned on March 22 at First District Court in Hempstead.
