Bay Shore Man Indicted for Allegedly Kidnapping Girl He Met on App

A Bay Shore man was indicted for Kidnapping and other related charges after allegedly meeting an 11-year-old child on the mobile application Discord, picking her up at her school in Queens, and taking her to his home in Suffolk County.

In early December 2025, Nicholas Wieber allegedly began communicating with the child on Discord, a free communication application commonly used by children for playing games. His messages allegedly quickly became sexual in nature.

On December 12, 2025, the victim went to school in Queens, but when her mother went to the bus stop to pick her up at the end of the day, she was not on the bus. The mother immediately called the child’s friends to try to find her daughter and learned that the victim had allegedly been picked up by an older male.  The mother called the New York Police Department, who began searching for the child.

When the investigation led police to Wieber’s address in Bay Shore on the evening of December  13, 2025, they contacted the Suffolk County Police Department for assistance. Suffolk police responded to Wieber’s home, where the child was allegedly found in a state of undress in Wieber’s bed. Wieber was arrested at the scene, and the child was reunited with her family.

On January 9, 2026, Wieber, 28, was arraigned on the indictment before Supreme Court Justice  Richard Ambro for Kidnapping in the First Degree, a Class A-I felony, Kidnapping in the Second  Degree, a Class B felony, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A misdemeanor.

Justice Ambro ordered Wieber held on $250,000 cash, $500,000 bond, or $2.5 million partially secured bond during the pendency of the case

Wieber is due back in court on February 17, 2026, and faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted on the top count.

“This case underscores the exceptional work of law enforcement, whose coordinated response led to the recovery of a kidnapped child,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney. “Their vigilance, skill, and determination ensured the child was found safely and returned to her parents without delay. Due  to their outstanding investigative work, we were able to swiftly secure an indictment and begin holding the offender accountable.”
