3 Teens Caught Trying to Burglarize Bike Store

Three male teenagers were arrested for attempted burglary in Merrick.  

Police officers responded to Merrick Bicycles, located at 1829 Merrick Avenue, on June 16 for a burglary in progress. Officers arrested three males ages 13, 14, and 17 years old. Detectives determined the juveniles were responsible for two additional burglaries, which occurred at the same business on May 24 and June 8.  

The 13-year-old was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, third-degree attempted burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny, petit larceny, and criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree. The 14-year-old was charged with third-degree attempted Burglary. Both were issued appearance tickets and released. 

The 17-year-old was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, third-degree attempted burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth-degree, petit larceny, possession of burglar tools, and third-degree criminal mischief. He was arraigned on June 17 at First District Court in Hempstead.
