PSEG employees recently donated $1,150 to Lighthouse Mission, located in Bellport. The donation was offered through PSEG Long Island’s Adelante LI employee resource group (EBRG), which includes employees who promote, advocate, and support Hispanic people and cultures.

“PSEG Long Island has a longstanding commitment to community service and we are proud to support organizations like Lighthouse Mission, which serves as a true beacon of hope for many Long Island families,” said Norberto Lopez Gutierrez, a PSEG Long Island employee and Adelante LI EBRG member. “Along with this grant, my colleagues and I also provide this organization with toy donations around the holidays and school supplies in the fall.”

The Lighthouse Mission youth director and warehouse director responded to the donation by saying, “Lighthouse Mission was blessed to receive a kind donation from PSEG Long Island’s Adelante LI EBRG. Every donation counts for us and we greatly depend on The Lord working through the generosity of others to help meet the needs to struggling Long Island families.”

In addition to Lighthouse Mission’s food distribution, the organization also offers afterschool mentorship programs, educational trips and camps. They also provide members of the community with clothing.

Founded in 1992, Lighthouse Mission has provided a significant impact on the Long Island community, which includes over 148,000 people served at mobile food distributions in Suffolk County, over 1 million pounds of food distributed to those in need, over 4,000 Thanksgiving meals given to local families, 4,000 winter coats given to those in need, over 9,000 volunteer hours served in Suffolk County neighborhoods, and helped over 3,000 families give Christmas presents to their children.
