
Two people have been arrested for allegedly selling and possessing drugs inside a West Hempstead store. One of them is subject to removal proceedings by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
According to Nassau County Narcotics/Vice Squad Detectives, an investigation was conducted on May 22 at 2:12 p.m. at the Woodfield Quick Shop located at 604 Woodfield Road where it was determined that cannabis and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) were being sold. Ahmed Aljomai, 25, of 73 Broadway, Mastic and Rebeca Judith Alizaga Ramirez, 47, of 46 Villa Court, Hempstead, were placed under arrest without incident.
During the investigation, detectives additionally recovered 46 THC products, 22 assorted cannabis products and cash.
Police charged Aljomai with fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful sale of cannabis. He is scheduled to be arraigned on May 23 at First District Court in Hempstead.
Alizaga Ramirez was charged with fifth-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of cannabis and fifth-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on an Appearance Ticket.
Further investigation revealed that Alizaga Ramirez is illegally in the United States and is subject to removal proceedings. ICE agents took custody of the defendant.
