Optimum Business, LIA Foundation Announce Launch of LOCAL Small Business Grants

In a significant boost for small businesses across Nassau and Suffolk Counties, Optimum Business and the Long Island Association (LIA) Foundation have announced the creation of the LOCAL Small Business Grants. This new initiative will provide $5,000 grants to 50 small businesses to support their growth and contribute to the economic prosperity of Long Island communities.

Additionally, the LIA will offer complimentary six-month and one-year memberships to program applicants and grant recipients, respectively, who are new members. This gesture aims to further support the development of these businesses by integrating them into the LIA’s network, promoting their growth and expanding their reach.

The grant initiative also involves collaboration with the Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (LIHCC) and the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce (LIAACC) to extend outreach and ensure a diverse range of applicants. This collaborative effort reflects a broader commitment to inclusivity and empowerment within the region’s business ecosystem.

“The LOCAL Small Business Grants funded by Optimum Business will help brick-and-mortar small businesses by providing them with the necessary capital to fuel growth and beautify neighborhoods, communities, business districts across Long Island,” said Phil Andrews, president of the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce.

“We’re committed to fostering economic growth and empowerment across our diverse community on Long Island. Partnering with Optimum Business, the LIA Foundation, and the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, we’re investing in Hispanic and minority-owned small businesses and the vibrant tapestry of Long Island’s entrepreneurial spirit. Together, we’re laying the foundation for a stronger, more resilient future for all,” added Luis Vazquez, president of the Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Andrew Rainone, Optimum’s senior vice president of business, expressed pride in the partnership, highlighting it as a continuation of Optimum’s dedication to providing essential connectivity services and resources to help small businesses thrive in a digital economy. “Small businesses are critical for the lasting health and vitality of local communities, and we believe Long Island’s vibrant and diverse business community has helped the region and its residents thrive and grow,” he said.

Matt Cohen, president & CEO of the Long Island Association, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of supporting small business development and community revitalization. “We encourage all eligible businesses from all sectors to apply to the LOCAL Small Business Grants and we look forward to seeing the innovative ways small businesses across Long Island
will use this funding and watching the program’s impact across our region,” he said.

The program details, submission requirements, and application process are available on the Long Island Association’s website at www.longislandassociation.org/foundation/.

The grant winners will be announced in June, with subsequent recognition events planned for this summer, celebrating the recipients alongside local officials and community partners. This initiative is part of Optimum’s broader strategy to deepen community ties and celebrate local businesses as essential components of the region’s vibrancy and resilience.
