Oakdale Rehabilitation Facility Celebrates Expansion

40 More Beds Added to Affinity Skilled Living

Members of the Greater Sayville and Greater Patchogue Chambers of Commerce, along with local elected officials and staff members, took part in a ribbon cutting ceremony at Affinity Senior Living & Rehabilitation Center in Oakdale on September 25 to celebrate an expansion of the facility by adding 40 new beds, making it 280 total. 

The beds are available for short-term or long-term stays.

Construction of the new wing of the facility was completed earlier this year. Everything is new, including the TVs, floors, furniture, window treatments, curtains, bathrooms, bedding and lighting.

According to the facility, Affinity has portable, state-of-the-art ventilators, which allow residents to achieve independence and attain maximum comfort. Each ventilator has a pulse ox monitoring system, measures oxygen levels and heart rate to assure resident safety in the ventilation unit. The unit has 20 beds and is staffed with highly trained and dedicated professionals 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

In addition, a physiological monitoring system which ensures resident safety by immediately alerting the team if any resident is in distress.

Affinity staffs a multidisciplinary team, comprised of board-certified pulmonologists, a geriatric physician, specially trained registered and licensed practical nurses and certified nurses assistants; a speech language pathologist; physical, occupational and recreational therapists; a registered dietician; and a team of psychologists. There is also a licensed respiratory therapist available around the clock.

Among the services Affinity provides include stroke rehabilitation, orthopedic and post-surgical care, Intravenous therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, wound care, on-site lab, X-ray, dental, podiatry and audiology services. They also provide palliative care for those facing a progressive illness and social services to help patients and their families make a safe transition to home. The Compass to Home Rehabilitation Program restores patients to health with a personally tailored program to help them achieve the goal to get home safely and prevent a readmission.

There are also a number of amenities that Affinity offers.
