Suffolk County officers arrested a man for allegedly operating electronic gambling machines at a business in Shirley.
On March 4 at about 4:00 p.m., officers conducted an inspection check at Lucky Smoke Shop and Beer, located at 20 Floyd Road, after several community complaints. During the inspection, officers found three electronic gambling machines in the back of the store. The devices were taken.
The supervisor of the store, Ankit Patel, 30, of Selden, is charged with possession of a gambling device.
The Brookhaven Fire Marshal issued several summonses for violations of the New York State fire code and criticized the store over safety concerns.
Patel was given a field appearance ticket and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court.
