People lined up around Dave & Buster’s in Islandia for the grand opening of its “Store of the Future” on March 14. The newly renovated amusement place, located at 1856 Veterans Memorial Highway, provides an improved experience for its customers, whether it’s playing games or watching them on the massive 40-foot screen.
General Manager Mark Kelly pointed out how many showed up. He motioned to a group of people in front of the line. “They got here at 3:30 this morning,” he said. Kelly announced this is the first store of its kind for Dave & Buster’s on Long Island.
Dave & Buster’s staff got the people excited for the grand opening with a special appearance by Quackerjack, the mascot of the Long Island Ducks minor league baseball team, and music from WBLI (106.1 FM). After the ribbon cutting, customers filed in and took in the sights of the newly revamped arcade/bar/restaurant.
“We have an all-new immersive experience, a social shuffle and our large flatscreen,” said Jessica Foley, Dave & Buster’s regional sales manager.
Some of the new features include High-Tech Darts, the Arena, an all-new, all-immersive gaming experience; Social Shuffle, a new take on shuffleboard and the WOW Wall, a wall of TVs including a 40-foot flatscreen complete with reverberating surround sound.
