A Hicksville woman was arrested for stealing from her Plainview-based employer over a one-and-a-half-year period.
An extensive investigation by Nassau County detectives revealed that Elizabeth Stern, 52, of 23 Arpad Street, was responsible for stealing from her former employer, Superior Air Condition & Heating Systems Inc. Over an 18-month period, Stern paid off her personal credit cards with checks that were stolen from the company, totaling approximately $301,958. During that same time period, she also cashed checks totaling approximately $38,000. On September 3 at 4:05 p.m., Stern was arrested at her residence without incident.
Stern was charged with second-degree grand larceny, five counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, five counts of first-degree identity theft, five counts of third-degree unlawful possession of personal identifying information and first-degree falsifying of business records. She was arraigned on September 4 at First District Court in Hempstead.
