
Suffolk County officers arrested four people for setting flavored vape products to minors during compliance checks at local businesses.
Officers started an investigation into the selling of vape products to minors at 22 businesses after several complaints from local residents.
During the investigation, four businesses were discovered to have sold flavored vape products and tobacco to a minor. One of the shops sold vape products twice to underage police agents.
All four of the following individuals were charged with unlawfully dealing with a child in the second degree:
Sabeeh Altaf, 25, of Central Islip, who worked at Huntington Market, located at 276 East Jericho Turnpike, Huntington Station, was charged with two counts for selling tobacco products two separate times to minors.
Yacoub Isselmou, 27, of Huntington Station, who worked at Joe Joe Convenience and Candy Store, located at 212 Depot Road, Huntington Station.
Joseph Rueda Mendoza, 20, of East Northport, who worked at 116 Market, located at 116 East 11th Street, Depot Road, Huntington Station.
Daniel Fuentes, 21, of Central Islip, who worked at Highr Smoke Shop, located at 2066 Jericho Turnpike, East Northport.
Altaf, Isselmou, Mendoza, and Fuentes were all given field appearance tickets and are expected to be arraigned at First District Court at a later date.
