A train and rail company based in Denver, Colorado has been chosen to operate the Brookhaven Rail Terminal, which has also undergone a name change.
OmniTRAX has been named the exclusive railroad operator of Brookhaven Rail Terminal in Yaphank. The company offers bundled services that include rail freight, terminal and switching services, multimodal transloading, car storage as well as land purchase and industrial development, according to its website.
“Long Island plays a critical role in northeast supply chains, and we are pleased to add BRT to the OmniTRAX rail network,” said OmniTRAX Executive Vice President Nathan Brown.
In addition, Brookhaven Rail Terminal has been rebranded as Long Island Reload. The newly named facility is the first multi-modal rail freight facility on Long Island to provide rail-based shipping, warehousing and logistic services to the strategic seaboard market. Located at the geographic nexus of Long Island in Yaphank, adjacent to the New York and Atlantic (NYA)/Long Island Railroad (LIRR) and the Long Island Expressway, Brookhaven Rail Terminal provides direct access to the northeast market, global ports, and the national rail network.
Brown noted that NorthPoint Development is building a vibrant rail-served industrial hub. NorthPoint Development is a Kansas City-based commercial real estate operating company specializing in developing, leasing, and managing Class A industrial and multi-family properties.
“[This hub] … can grow with the region, and we are excited to partner with them to serve this dynamic domestic market,” Brown said.
“We are excited about the industry-leading safety and service that OmniTRAX brings to the Long Island Reload,” said Andrew Villari, the development manager for NorthPoint Development. “Location and efficiency are critical to our industrial customers. … OmniTRAX adds tremendous operational strength to The Long Island Reload’s unparalleled market access.”
