Suffolk County Police arrested a woman during inspections in Huntington Station.
In response to a community complaint, Second Precinct Crime Section officers, in conjunction with the New York State Liquor Authority (SLA), Town of Huntington Fire Marshal, and Town of Huntington Ordinance Inspector conducted an SLA Inspection at Checkers Café & Pub, located at 2357 New York Avenue, on December 19 at approximately 11:30 p.m.
During the inspection, gambling pools and records were allegedly observed in the establishment.
The bartender, Tia Speller, 41, of 306 Cassata Drive, Copiague, was arrested for Disorderly Premise, an unclassified misdemeanor in the Alcohol and Beverage Control Law and issued a Field Appearance Ticket to appear in First District Court on January 8. The Town of Huntington Fire Marshal and Town of Huntington Code Ordinance Inspector issued four combined Fire and Building Code Violations to the establishment. The SLA observed numerous violations and will be conducting a further investigation into the establishment.
In response to another community complaint, an earlier SLA Inspection was also conducted last night at Colony Lounge, located at 338 Depot Road, at approximately 10:30 p.m. During the inspection, the SLA and the Fire Marshal observed several violations. Both agencies will be conducting a further investigation into the establishment.
