Suffolk County Police arrested two people for selling alcohol to an underage person during compliance checks at businesses in the Third Precinct.
In response to numerous community complaints, Suffolk County Police Third Precinct Crime Section conducted an investigation into the sale of alcohol to underage people on February 7 between 9 p.m. and midnight. Police investigated 13 businesses in Islip, East Islip, West Islip, and Bay Shore and checked them to see if they were in compliance with the law.
During the investigation, officers found two businesses were not in compliance, and the following people were charged with unlawfully dealing with a child in the first degree:
• Vikramjit Singh, 20, of South Ozone Park, employed at Mobil Mini Mart, located at 221 West Main St., Bay Shore
• William Byrnes, 64, of Bay Shore, employed at Speedway Mini Mart, located at 210 Islip Ave., Islip
Both men were issued field appearance tickets and were scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
