Are These the Most Dangerous Unelected Bureaucrats in New York?

If you don’t know what the New York State Climate Council is, or who sits on this panel, you should.

In 2019, the New York State Legislature passed the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, or CLCPA. Its 22-member panel is possessed with enormous authority regarding the future of New York’s energy needs.

In an article published in Bloomberg Law, the Board’s sweeping power was summarized as follows:

These are not simply aspirational goals—the CLCPA requires the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and the New York Public Service Commission to establish binding rules and regulations ensuring compliance with those requirements. Such compliance will require profound changes to the way New Yorkers heat homes and buildings, power their business operations, use and develop land, and move about the state. https://news.bloomberglaw.com/environment-and-energy/the-impact-of-new-yorks-climate-leadership-and-community-protection-act

It’s one thing to create a commission or a think tank to issue studies back to the Legislature before drastic policies are put in place, dictating how people will live their lives. It’s quite another thing to give unchecked authority to unelected individuals to ban products, such as gas-powered cars or stoves, or requiring that all new buildings be warmed solely by electric heat.

By ceding authority to these bureaucrats, progressive officials can impose draconian measures on the public and absolve themselves from accountability. Oh, we didn’t ban your stove, that panel did. But who gave the panel the authority?

If you want to stop your life being controlled by people not accountable to you, speak out NOW!
