Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a two-vehicle crash that seriously injured a female passenger in Bay Shore.
On MaY 22, Lenis Martinez was driving a 2009 Honda Accord northbound on Fifth Avenue, when another vehicle traveling southbound made a left onto Smith Street in front of the Honda. The Honda then swerved across Fifth Avenue into the southbound lanes, and was struck on the passenger side of the vehicle by a southbound 2013 Hyundai Sonata at 11:25 p.m.
The passenger of the Honda, Erica Camacho, 22, of Brentwood, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries. Martinez, 19, of Brentwood, and the driver of the Hyundai, Justin Smith, 33, of Bay Shore, were also transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of minor injuries.
Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
