Woman Killed after Being Hit by Car in Freeport

A woman was killed when she was hit by a car while trying to cross the street in Freeport.

On December 17 at 5:04 p.m., an 89-year-old male driving a 2014 Lincoln was traveling southbound on North Main Street in the left lane when he struck a 73-year-old female pedestrian crossing the road eastbound on North Main Street in the vicinity of Stevens Street.

The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced at 6:38 p.m. by hospital staff. The driver was transported to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
