A Westbury woman has been arrested for allegedly driving drunk with a child in the car.
On June 22 at 11:55 p.m., Michelle Lopez, 22, of 39 Circle Drive, was observed operating a white 2013 Honda Civic with no front license plate northbound on Merrick Avenue near the intersection of Stewart Avenue. Nassau County police officers conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop and observed Lopez with slurred speech, watery eyes and an odor of alcohol emanating from her breath.
Results from her Standardized Field Sobriety Test came back positive. Lopez was placed under arrest without incident. No injuries were reported. The vehicle’s passenger, a three-month-old girl, was released into the custody of a family member.
Police charged Lopez with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Child under 16), two counts of Driving While Intoxicated, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law infractions. She was scheduled to be arraigned on June 23 at First District Court in Hempstead.
