Suffolk County Police Motor Carrier Safety Section officers, along with personnel from the Suffolk  County Department of Weights and Measures and the New York State Environmental Conservation  Police today conducted checks of home heating fuel delivery trucks in Commack.

On February 3, fifteen tanker trucks were inspected at the Motor Carrier Inspection Site, located on Crooked Hill Road in Commack. Three were placed out of service for federal and state safety violations including a driver who did not possess a license with proper endorsement, a brake violation, and a hazmat placarding violation. Of the nine delivery meters inspected and tested by Suffolk County Weights and Measures, all were found to be in compliance with regulations and calibration tolerances.

Checkpoints of home heating oil trucks are conducted randomly during the winter to ensure the commercial vehicles are operating safely and in compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
