A third person has died in a West Babylon crash that happened earlier this week.
Bella Trezza, 17, of Babylon, who was a driver of a car that was hit by Michael Desmond, passed away on September 26 after being transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip.
As previously reported in Long Island Life & Politics, on September 21, Desmond was driving a 2017 Kia sedan eastbound on Railroad Avenue and failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Great East Neck Road and Railroad Avenue, when his vehicle struck a 2025 Kia Seltos traveling southbound on Great East Neck Road at 1:06 a.m.
Desmond, 33, of Lindenhurst, was pronounced dead at the scene. Riley Goot, 18, of Babylon, a passenger in the Seltos, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where he was pronounced dead. Two of Trella’s other passengers — Austin Trezza 18, and Jack Murphy 18, both of Babylon — were transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. An additional passenger, Anthony Pagliuca, 16, of West Babylon, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was treated for serious injuries.
The vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
