






Over the past weekend, the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office arrested eight impaired drivers for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). One of these drivers was charged with Aggravated DWI after he was allegedly found to be swerving over lanes and registering three times over the legal limit.

Suffolk County Sheriff Dr. Errol D. Toulon, Jr. thanked his deputies for their hard work. “I commend my staff for their hard work in safely removing these impaired and dangerous drivers from our streets so residents who drive responsibly can arrive home safe,” he said.
On June 20, a deputy sheriff pulled over Darwin Perez Donis, 31, from Bellport, after his 2017 Chevrolet Malibu was observed allegedly swerving across lane markings and continuing forward on a turning lane into an oncoming turning lane at Second Avenue and American Boulevard.
Upon interviewing the driver, it was allegedly observed that his speech was slurred, his eyes were bloodshot, his movements were unsteady, and there was a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath. He submitted to a chemical breath test resulting in a .24 BAC. Perez was arrested for an Aggravated DWI.
That same day, a deputy sheriff pulled over Ingrid Centeno, 55, of Brentwood, on eastbound Sunrise Highway west of Exit 48 for allegedly failing to maintain their lane. The driver allegedly demonstrated clues of being intoxicated during standardized field sobriety tests. She was arrested for DWI and refused to consent to a breath test.
A deputy sheriff pulled over Zephyr T. Osit, 18, of Holbrook, at Patchogue Holbrook Road and Walnut Street for allegedly speeding 15 miles over the legal speed limit. He was arrested for DWI, consented to a breath test, and registered a BAC of .09.
Deputy sheriffs pulled over Louis A. Montanaro, 36, of Shirley, on eastbound Sunrise Highway West by Exit 61 for allegedly hitting a speed limit sign and swerving between lanes without signaling. The driver’s vehicle came to a complete stop and made a U-turn to go westbound in the eastbound lanes of Sunrise Highway. He was allegedly found to be impaired by a drug and arrested for DWI.
On June 21, a deputy sheriff stopped Rigoverto Diaz, 25, of Mastic, on westbound Sunrise Highway by Exit 60 for allegedly failing to maintain his lane. He said he had two drinks earlier in the morning. He was arrested for DWI, consented to a breath test, and registered a BAC of .09.
That same day, deputy sheriffs stopped Jarlen SueroHernandez, 18, of Patchogue, at Bay Avenue and Montauk Highway for allegedly making an unsafe right-hand turn, failure to maintain his lane and speeding. The driver was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested for DWI, consented to a breath test, and registered a BAC of .08.
On June 22, a deputy sheriff stopped Luis Criollo Mejia, 34, of Shirley, at eastbound Montauk Highway west of Station Road for allegedly failing to maintain his lane, not following a traffic control device, and speeding. He was arrested for DWI, consented to a breath test, and registered a BAC of .13.
Later that day, a deputy sheriff stopped Omar Cabrera Maldonado, 37, of Medford, at eastbound Woodside Avenue near Sills Road in Medford for allegedly failing to maintain his lane, failing to come to a complete stop before making a turn on red, and speeding. He was arrested for DWI, consented to a breath test, and registered a BAC of .10.
