Stolen Vehicle Pursuit Ends with Two in Custody

Two people were arrested by New York State Police (NYSP) for allegedly hitting two troopers with a car that was reportedly stolen and fleeing law enforcement.

On April 7 at approximately 7:36 p.m., state troopers observed a stolen vehicle traveling eastbound on the Southern State Parkway in the area of exit 22 in North Merrick near the Meadowbrook Parkway.

Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as Boubacar Diallo, 39, and his passenger, Joshua Rosario-Rivera, 38, failed to comply. Diallo fled at a high rate of speed and a pursuit was initiated.

During the pursuit, Diallo struck multiple marked NYSP vehicles and recklessly drove at a high rate of speed to avoid apprehension. The pursuit continued northbound onto the Sagtikos Parkway before coming to an end near the SM5W exit (Route 25A) in the town of Smithtown.

Diallo and Rosario-Rivera were taken into custody without further incident. Two troopers were injured during this pursuit with minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
