Vehicle Was Hit after Making a Traffic Stop
A New York State Police (NYSP) trooper was injured when his patrol vehicle was struck in the town of Hempstead.
On November 9, shortly after 2:30 p.m., the trooper had just completed a traffic stop westbound on the Exit 22N ramp. As the trooper was getting back into the patrol vehicle, it was struck by a passing motorist.
The trooper was transported to Nassau University Medical Center for a complaint of pain. According to the NYSP, the trooper does not appear to have serious injuries.
“This incident highlights the dangers faced by troopers each day and demonstrates the importance of obeying the “‘Move Over Law,'” said the NYSP’s Troop L in Farmingdale in a statement.
