According to state police, 409 intoxicated and impaired drivers were removed from Long Island roadways.

“The New York State Police will continue to enforce the vehicle and traffic law with vigilance,” Troop L said in a statement. “Although the summer is coming to an end, our message will not change. Do not drive under the influence, obey the speed limit, wear your seatbelt, and distracted driving will not be tolerated. Driving is a shared responsibility, and the New York State Police will continue to protect motorist safety.”
