Seaford Man Arrested for Allegedly Violating Leandra’s Law

A Seaford man has been arrested for Aggravated  Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra’s Law)in Massapequa Park.

On August 15 at 9 p.m., Nassau County officers from the Seventh Precinct responded to Harbor Lane for an auto accident. An investigation revealed Francisco Pimentel, 42, of 2138 Parkside Drive, was operating a 2010 GMC and allegedly struck a parked vehicle with no occupants inside. Officers observed Pimentel to allegedly have slurred speech and watery eyes, be unsteady on his feet and have an odor of alcohol emanating from his breath. A Standardized Field Sobriety  Test was conducted, and determined Pimentel’s blood alcohol level was over the limit. He was placed under arrest without incident.

Further investigation revealed the defendant had five juvenile passengers ages 10,  11, 11, 12 and 13 in the vehicle. They were all released into the custody of their family members. Three of the juveniles were transported to local area hospitals for evaluation.

Police charged Pimentel with five counts of Aggravated Driving  While Intoxicated (Child under 16) under Leandra’s Law, five counts of  Endangering the Welfare of a Child and two counts of Driving While Intoxicated. He was arraigned on August 16 at First District Court in Hempstead.
