Rocky Point Man Arrested for Allegedly Taking Part in Illegal Speed Contest

Suffolk County Police today arrested a Rocky Point man for allegedly participating in an illegal speed contest in  Centereach last month.  

Members of the Suffolk County Police Street Takeover Task Force observed a 2019 Dodge Challenger being driven recklessly in a parking lot, located at 2112 Middle Country Road, on the evening of November 29. The vehicle was seen spinning the tires in a way that created friction and smoke before fleeing the scene.  

On December 16 at 7:30 p.m., following an investigation by Sixth Precinct Investigative Unit officers, Kelvin Torresurquilla was arrested at the Sixth Precinct for allegedly driving the vehicle. Torresurquilla, 20, was charged with Unlawful Speed Contest. He was released on a Field Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.  

The vehicle was seized as part of the investigation.
