A Queens man was arrested for a serious vehicular accident that occurred in East Rockaway.
On October 24 at 5:59 p.m., a 66-year-old female pedestrian was struck by a 2024 Chevrolet pickup truck at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Denton Avenue. As a result of the accident, the pedestrian suffered severe trauma and was transported to a local area hospital, where she is listed in critical condition.
A subsequent investigation revealed that the driver of the pickup truck, Adrian Raghunanan, 26, of 13916 87th Avenue, was allegedly operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition and was placed under arrest.
Nassau County police arrested Raghunanan with Vehicular Assault in the Second Degree and Driving While Intoxicated. He was scheduled to be arraigned on October 25 at First District Court in Hempstead.
