Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Car in Hempstead

The Nassau County Police Department’s Homicide Squad is investigating a fatal vehicular accident involving a pedestrian that occurred in Hempstead.

On March 29 at 2:03 a.m.,  a 66-year-old male pedestrian while attempting to cross North Franklin Avenue was struck by a 2024 Hyundai, operated by a 48-year-old male, traveling southbound on North Franklin Avenue in the vicinity of Centre Street. The pedestrian was transported by an ambulance to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The operator of the vehicle remained at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
