Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating an incident in which a pedestrian was hit by a motorcycle in Central Islip.
Xavier Batista was driving a 2015 Honda motorcycle westbound on Suffolk Avenue near Islip Avenue when the motorcycle struck a pedestrian in the roadway on July 23 at 5:35 p.m.
The pedestrian, Jose Martinez, 45, of Central Islip, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore with serious injuries. Batista, 31, of Brentwood, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check.
