Pedestrian Seriously Hurt after Being Struck by Car in Copiague

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Copiague this morning.

On April 11, Romain Ismael was driving a 2017 BMW eastbound on Marconi Boulevard, near Verrazzano Avenue, when the vehicle struck a pedestrian who was crossing the road at 8:43 a.m. The pedestrian, 72, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries. Ismael, 24, of Amityville, was not injured.

The BMW was impounded for a safety check.
