Pedestrian Hit by Driver Who Moved Body, Fled the Scene

A man is dead after being hit a car whose driver moved his body before driving away.

According to Nassau County Homicide Squad Detectives, a 74-year-old male pedestrian was crossing Broadway in the vicinity of 1345 Broadway in Hewlett on December 18 at 10:06 p.m., when he was struck by a dark-colored SUV traveling northbound on Broadway.

According to witnesses, the male driver got out of his vehicle, dragged the victim to the side of the road, re-entered his vehicle and fled the scene. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital and was later pronounced dead by a hospital physician.

The investigation is ongoing.
