Pedestrian Hit by Car in Freeport

The Nassau County Homicide Squad is investigating a serious vehicular accident involving a pedestrian that occurred in Freeport.

On December 9 at 7:09 p.m., while attempting to cross Merrick Road in the vicinity of Guy Lombardo Blvd., from the south side to the north side, a 40-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a 2006 Toyota Scion traveling eastbound on Merrick Road. He suffered trauma to his head and body. He was transported to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition.

The driver, 27, remained at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
