One Dead, One Injured in Northern State Parkway Crash

One person is dead and another injured in a two-car collision on the Northern State Parkway in Hauppauge.

On November 13 at approximately 5:50 p.m., the New York State Police responded to the Northern State Parkway eastbound, west of Veterans Memorial Highway for reports of a two-car motor vehicle collision.

During the subsequent investigation, it was determined Carl Salmon, 54 of Brooklyn, was traveling eastbound and operating a 2002 Infiniti i35. Salmon attempted to change lanes and lost control of his vehicle, striking the rear passenger side of a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek. The collision caused Salmon’s vehicle to exit the roadway, where it came to a stop in the center median after striking a tree. Salmon was transported to St. Catherine of Siena Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The collision also caused the Crosstrek to exit the roadway, overturn and stop in the center median. The operator was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, treated for minor injuries, and released.
