Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist in Islip.
On September 23, a man was operating a 2007 Honda motorcycle in the right lane of eastbound Sunrise Highway, between Exits 45-46, when he steered into the center lane and struck the rear of a 2015 Ford F-250 pickup truck at approximately 8:40 p.m.
The motorcyclist, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The driver of the Ford, Gerard Leone, 63, of Bohemia, was not injured. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
