A Massapequa woman was arrested for drunk driving and allegedly assaulting two police officers while being taken to the hospital.
On July 5 at 2:25 a.m., Nassau County police officers from the Eighth Precinct responded to 214 Floral Avenue for an auto accident. Upon arrival, it was determined that the defendant, Jamy Castillo, 21, of 420 Jefferson Street, Massapequa, was operating a 2010 Honda Pilot southbound when she struck a guard rail.
An investigation at the scene found Castillo to be intoxicated. She was placed under arrest before being transported to a local hospital for evaluation in a Nassau County Police Department ambulance after she complained of neck pain.
During the transport to the hospital, Castillo allegedly became combative with police and the police medic. Once at the hospital, she allegedly continued being combative and repeatedly kicked the police officers, causing an injury to one officer. She also spit on another officer.
Castillo is charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Assault in the Second degree, and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second degree. She was scheduled to be arraigned on July 6 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
