Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a scooter operator.
On August 25, Brian Ahrens was riding an electric scooter westbound on Veterans Memorial Highway, 200 feet east of H. Lee Dennison Building Drive, when he crossed into the path of and was struck by a westbound 2015 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Thomas Vito, at 4:49 a.m.
Ahrens, 35, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Vito, 20, of East Islip, was not injured.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
