A man was hit and killed by a car in Amityville.
On March 15 at approximately 12:13 a.m., Richard Moffatt was driving a 2021 Mazda SUV south in the left lane of Broadway, near Francine Avenue, when the car hit Jose Escobar, 56, of North Amityville, in the roadway. Escobar was pronounced dead at the scene. Moffatt, 30, of Amityville, was not harmed.
The car was impounded for a safety check.
