Man Arrested for Gun, Drug Possession during Crash on LIE

A Syosset man has been arrested for gun and drug possession after Nassau County police responded to a car crash in Syosset.

On December 21 at 12:30 a.m., officers responded to an accident at the South Service Road of the Long Island Expressway in the vicinity of Exit 43 for an auto accident. When they arrived, they observed Kevin Byong Koon Yim, 45, of 32 Walters Avenue, seated in a 2024 Chevrolet. An investigation at the scene led to the recovery of a Sig Sauer firearm and a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.

Yim was placed under arrest without incident. No injuries were reported at the scene.

Police charged Yim with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree. He was scheduled to be arraigned on December 21 at First District Court in Hempstead.
