A Long Beach man has been arrested for a fatal drunk driving crash that happened in Garden City.

On February 9 at 4:47 a.m., Garden City police responded to an auto accident that occurred westbound on Stewart Avenue at Nassau Boulevard. Upon arrival, they observed a 2007 Nissan that had struck a tree. The driver, Christhian Velasquez-Geleano, fled the scene on foot. His rear-seat passenger, Marco Antonio Zuniga, suffered severe body trauma and was transported in a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Zuniga, 27, of Long Beach, was later pronounced dead by a hospital physician.
