Suffolk County Police arrested a man who struck and killed a pedestrian on County Route 111 in Manorville last month.
On August 31, Michael Barnhardt, 54, of Manorville, was walking across County Route 111, north of Chapman Boulevard, when he was struck by a vehicle that fled northbound from the scene at 8:33 p.m. Barnhardt was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
On September 11, Campbell Smith, 58, of Holtsville, was arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident with a Fatality.
He will be held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on September 12.
