Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in East Islip.
On November 6 at 11:48 a.m., Xavier Angulo Espinoza was driving a garbage truck eastbound on Sunrise Highway Service Road, near Southern State Parkway, when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn. Espinoza, 45, of Central Islip, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the truck was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
