Floral Park Man Cuffed for DWI, Assault

A Floral Park man was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence and resisting arrest during an incident in Valley Stream.

On February 14, Nassau County police officers from the Fifth Precinct responded to a call of black 2022 Lincoln SUV blocking traffic in the eastbound lanes of Hendrickson Avenue near the intersection of Fletcher Avenue. Upon arrival, officers observed the driver, Gurvinder Singh, to allegedly have bloodshot/glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol on his breath. A Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted yielding positive results.

Officers attempted to place defendant Singh, 33 under arrest but sustained injuries during the course of the arrest as Singh allegedly became violent and combative while resisting
arrest. Two officers were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Police charged Singh, 33, of 86-29 259th Street, with two counts of second-degree assault, resisting arrest, aggravated DWI, DWI, operating a motor vehicle .08 of 1% or more alcohol in blood and a Vehicle Traffic Law infraction. He was arraigned on February 14 at First District Court in Hempstead.
