A Farmingdale woman has died following a pedestrian accident involving a cement truck earlier this month.
On July 11 at approximately 10:00 a.m., a 47-year-old man operating a cement truck was traveling northbound on Main Street in Farmingdale and attempted to make a left turn onto westbound Conklin Street. During the turn, the vehicle struck a pedestrian, later identified as 69-year-old Josephine Halby of Farmingdale.
Halby suffered severe trauma to her body and was airlifted by a Nassau County Police Department helicopter to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead by a hospital physician on July 22.
The driver of the cement truck remained at the scene following the collision. No other injuries were reported.
