Suffolk County Police arrested a Bellport man for driving while ability impaired by drugs after he was involved in a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Bay Shore early this morning.
Andrew Holmes Garriques was driving a 2008 Mercedes C350 when he struck Korey Klein, 37, of Bellport, who was walking on the eastbound Sunrise Highway Service Road, near the Brentwood Road overpass on February 13 at 5:18 a.m.
Klein was pronounced dead at the scene. Holmes Garriques, 27, who was not injured, was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and arraigned on February 14 at First District Court in Central Islip.
An adult female passenger in the Mercedes was not injured.
