Coram Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Miller Place Crash

A Coram man was critically injured Tuesday night when his motorcycle collided with an SUV at an intersection in Miller Place, Suffolk police said.

On April 22, Christopher Celli, 24, was riding a 2003 Harley-Davidson westbound on Route 25A around 9:15 p.m. when he attempted to pass between two vehicles that had slowed for a yellow traffic light at
Harrison Avenue, according to Suffolk County police.

Police said Celli continued through the intersection and struck the passenger side of a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was turning left onto Harrison Avenue from the eastbound lane of Route 25A.

Celli was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with critical injuries, authorities said. The driver of the Jeep, Frederick Winter, 78, of Sound Beach, was not injured.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks as the investigation continues. Sixth Squad detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact them.
