A 37-year-old was hospitalized after he became ill behind the wheel, hitting two businesses.
On March 13 at approximately 5:53 a.m., Nassau County officers arrived at 3008 Merrick Road, where a car had crashed into a building. After arriving, the officers saw that the vehicle had hit and partially entered the CRC Computer Repair and Valhallan ESports Training stores.
An investigation showed that the unidentified driver had a medical episode while driving a 2021 Buick westbound on Merrick Road near Brookside Avenue. The vehicle then crossed over the eastbound lanes and hit a telephone pole, causing it to fall before smashing into the buildings. The male driver was brought to a local hospital by a Nassau County Police Ambulance.
There were no other injuries reported.
