Bicyclist Seriously Hurt in Coram

Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a bicyclist in Coram yesterday.

Michael Mandel was riding a bicycle northbound on West Yaphank Road, south of Beach Lane, when he was struck by a northbound 2015 Hyundai Sonata driven by Clements Grace at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Mandel, 47, of Coram, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. Grace, 48, of Coram, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
