Affordability? No one addresses the property tax issue (“Can the Affordability Crisis Be Solved?”, January 16, 2026).
I pay over $16,000 a year. For what? I live in Copiague, not Sands Point. I’ve asked numerous politicians over the last 40 years, Senators, congressman, legislators, etc. NO ONE could answer or suggest a solution. NO ONE.
How can someone just starting out afford a mortgage, at least $1,000 a MONTH for property taxes, in addition to a mortgage, insurance, maintenance etc.? And they have the audacity to blame President Trump.
This didn’t just happen. The present leadership has destroyed New York. And they offer no solutions, only blame.
