Police Investigate Wooden Pier Fire

The New York State Police is seeking the public’s assistance in what is said to be a possible arson. 

On July 12, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the New York State Police and Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to the Hempstead Lake State Park pier for reports of a fire on a large wooden pier. Upon their arrival, firefighters from the Lakeview Fire Department were putting out a fire on the structure of the pier. 

Damage is estimated to be between $250,000-$300,000 according to the New York State Police.
