A Brentwood man has been sentenced to 50 years to life after being found guilty of fatally stabbing his cousin at his place of employment and then going to his cousin’s home in Brentwood and stabbing his girlfriend in front of her 21-year-old son.
Wilson Felipe Andrade-Molina and his cousin, Miguel Andrade-Cando, worked together as machinists at Electronic Machine Parts in Hauppauge. On March 30, 2023, at approximately 7:22 a.m., surveillance video captured Andrade-Molina arriving at work shortly before Andrade-Cando. Within a few minutes of Andrade-Cando's arrival, Andrade-Molina fatally stabbed him in the neck. The owner of the business discovered Andrade-Cando lifeless on the floor in a pool of blood.
Immediately after killing his cousin, Andrade-Molina went directly to Andrade-Cando’s home in Brentwood which his cousin shared with his girlfriend and her 21-year-old son. Once there, Andrade-Molina entered the home and stabbed his cousin’s girlfriend approximately nine times, almost killing her. Her son, who was sleeping at the time, awakened to the screams of his mother as she was being attacked.
When the young man tried to help his mother, Andrade-Molina advanced towards him with the knife and threatened him. Andrade-Molina then went back to the female victim and continued to stab her before he fled the scene. The female victim suffered life-threatening injuries including a lacerated liver, punctures to her diaphragm and lungs, and lacerations to her arm, shoulder, breast, and torso.
The Suffolk County Police Department located Andrade-Molina in Bay Shore a short time later and placed him under arrest.
On May 23, 2024, Andrade-Molina was convicted of second-degree murder, a Class A felony; second-degree attempted murder, a Class B felony; and first-degree assault, a Class B violent felony. On July 17, 2024, Andrade-Molina was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision.
“While this sentence cannot undo the pain and suffering caused, we hope it provides some measure of closure to the victims and their families,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney. “We remain dedicated to resolving every case, no matter how challenging, and to standing beside victims throughout the process. Our thoughts are with those affected by this tragedy as they continue to heal.”
